Connections 4 Friends is being developed by a group of California State University Monterey Bay (CSUMB) students who want to make social isolation and loneliness history for adults and seniors (18 to 80 and up) through easy-to-find shared activities and events. Our goal is to have a page on our website for each county, nationwide, so locals and visitors can easily find activities and events where they can make friends and build social networks.

We are currently in the Startup Phase:

We are using our winnings from the Social Venture Division of Startup Challenge Monterey Bay to apply to be a California Nonprofit Organization and to the IRS for 501(c)3 status. We are looking for members for our Board of Directors, mentors, advisors, volunteer organizer(s), fundraiser(s)/grantwriter(s), and teammates in computer programming and/or design.

Funding:

Until we become a California Nonprofit Organization and 501(c)3, we will be able to apply for grants and receive tax-deductible donations through our fiscal sponsor, socialgoodfund.org. Once we are approved as a California Nonprofit Organization and 501(c)3, we will be able to apply for and accept funding for Connections 4 Friends.

Action:

After funding is secured, we will hire staff and develop the website to assemble and manage the easy-to-search list of organizations with links to activities and events for adults and seniors in each funded region.
